Makers, tinkers, hackers, closet geeks, what ever you want to call them, don’t have $1000’s of dollars for software, so with this, and as someone who works in the engineering field, I started IrisCAD.
IrisCAD has gone through many iterations. Starting back in 2012 as an experimental 3D file reader in based in XNA/WPF. After further iterations through C# and WPF, it was re-written in C++ with wxWidgets and OpenGL. After much development in OpenGL, OpenCascade was chosen as the main modeling Kernel over the core Kernel written by my self due too code maturity and that there is already a knowledge base using it.
You can follow the development here as well as find a set of Tutorials for OpenCascade here.
